Study Programme Overview
Year 1: Core Avian Sciences & Management
Students explore the foundations of avian sciences, covering embryology, anatomy, physiology, and genetics. They also study poultry production management, husbandry, biosecurity, and nutrition, emphasizing gut health and effective feed strategies.
Year 2: Disease Control & Scientific Methods
Focus shifts to poultry diseases, exploring diagnostics, treatments, and preventive strategies. Students also enhance scientific reasoning skills, mastering research methodologies and effective communication techniques.
Year 3: Poultry Welfare & Food Safety
Advanced topics cover poultry behavior, welfare standards, public perceptions, and food safety protocols. A comprehensive externship ensures students gain practical industry experience, applying their knowledge to real-world challenges.

Practical Training Locations & Mobility:
- Europe Programme: Belgium (Merelbeke, Izegem, Poeke)
- Asia Programme: Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh City), Philippines (Manila)
- Latin America Programme: Brazil (São Paulo), Colombia (Bucaramanga)
Classes (October – April):
Courses are delivered online through instructor-led and self-paced e-learning. Learning is flexible, but some lectures may require real-time online attendance.
Practical Sessions:
Hands-on training is mandatory and held on-site twice a year (Years 1 & 2) or once a year (Year 3). Attendance at practical exercises is compulsory for all students.
Exams:
- Main Exam Period: May 1 – June 30 (held on-site in Brazil, Belgium, or the Philippines, depending on your program region).
- Retake (in case of failed exam): August 1 – September 15 in Belgium (Merelbeke) for all students.
